Information
The Traffic Division, as a part of the Support Operations Division, is responsible for, among other services, maintaining Oakland Police Department traffic reports.
Motor vehicle accident reports written by the Oakland Police Department are available for purchase on-line, in person, or by mail. You must be an involved party or a representative of an involved party to obtain a copy of a Traffic Collision report.
To obtain a copy of a report online you must go to the link below and provide the accident report number, the date the accident occurred, and your last name:

The cost of an on-line report is $15.50, which includes a $3.00 convenience fee.
In the following cases, accident reports will not be available on-line and must be obtained in person or by mail:
- An Oakland Police Officer did not respond to the scene of the accident;
- There were serious injuries and/or a fatality as a result of the accident;
- The accident involved a City of Oakland vehicle
In all cases, the Oakland Police Department reserves the right to further restrict the availability of on-line accident reports.
To obtain a copy of a report in person, you must come to the Eastmont Substation at 2651 73rd Avenue, Oakland, CA. 94605, Tuesday through Friday, between the hours of 11am-3pm. You must have valid, government issued identification. The cost is $12.50. We accept Visa, MasterCard, cash, or check as payment.
To obtain a copy of a report by mail, you must send a signed request with all of the details you have regarding the accident; a check for $12.50; and a self addressed, stamped envelope to 2651 73rd Avenue, Oakland, CA. 94605, as well as:
If you are an involved party; a copy of your identification
If you are an Insurance Representative; a claim or policy number
If you are an attorney for an involved party; a signed authorization release from your client
Reports are typically available fourteen (14) to twenty-one (21) days from the date of the accident. If your report is not available after twenty-one (21) days, please contact the Traffic Division at (510) 238-3155.
